Support Services

Katie Cross, HCC School Counselor, strives to enhance students' academic, social/emotional, and college/career readiness and potential. Ms. Cross is located in the lower level of Building C. Students who would like to request an appointment with Ms. Cross can reach out using the HCC Student Support Services form, by email, or by requesting an appointment through their HCC program instructor. 

Students may reach out for assistance with the following services:

• College information and planning
• Post-secondary information and planning 
• Career information
• Building connections with students, parents, teachers, administrators
• Group counseling classroom presentations on student driven topics

Mickie Heiter, HCC School Social Worker, supports students' social, emotional, and academic well-being by addressing a wide range of challenges that can impact daily learning and attendance.  Mrs. Heiter is located in the main office of Building A. Students can request an appointment with Mrs. Heiter using the HCC Student Support Services form, by email or by requesting an appointment through their HCC program instructor.

Brittnee Maggio, our Career Resource Educator is available on the Herndon campus to aide students with their Individualized Education Plans (IEP), 504 Plans, Individualized Health Plans (IHP) or English Language Learners (ELL) designations.

Students needing assistance can request services using the HCC Student Support Services form, by email  or request an appointment with their program instructor.  Mrs. Maggio is located in the lower level of Building C.  Services can also be requested by the student's sending school case manager. 

The Career Resource Educator assists students in making effective and informed transition plans and works closely with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and our partner schools to ensure that all students requiring these supports have their individual needs met effectively as students transition into postsecondary school, training, or employment.

Erica Byrd, HCC Counseling and Records Registrar, supports current and past HCC students and families with proper enrollment data for students. This includes demographic data and coordination with our sending school contacts.  Mrs. Byrd also works with student grade communication and transcript requests.  Mrs. Byrd is located in the lower level of Building C and can be reached by email or by phone at 816-268-7150.
