Business Innovation & Creation 11-12 Grade

3.0 Credits, 2 Semesters, Herndon Career Center - Building C

Prerequisite(s): Min 2.0 GPA; 90% attendance record; successful completion of English II and Algebra I with a C or better. 

Recommendations: Students need a desire to be in an environment that encourages teamwork in a project-based real-world environment. 

This course is designed for students who have an interest in the business innovation and creation field. This career education course will allow students an opportunity to creatively problem solve for new, existing, and expanding markets. Students will have the opportunity to learn from professionals in the field of entrepreneurship, patent development, marketing, and economic development. This course is a hands-on, project-based exploratory opportunity for students. Students should be prepared to work with professionals on real-world company based projects. Students meet on campus or at business locations throughout the first semester while gaining skills to earn an internship for the second semester. Student transportation is required. This program is eligible for 1-4 credits of dual credit work through Northwest Missouri State University. 

Business Innovation & Creation II 12 Grade

3.0 Credits, 2 Semesters, Herndon Career Center - Building C

2nd Year Prerequisites: Students must meet eligibility requirements including 90% attendance at HCC, cumulative HCC grade of 80% or higher, successful completion of year 1 internship, positive internship evaluations and their own personal transportation. Students must also desire to be out in industry 4 days a week in an internship setting.
